Best udon in NY!! We ordered the US Wagyu Beef Truffle Dashi & the US Wagyu Beef Deluxe Sukiyaki. The noodles for both dishes were amazing: very long and thick, making slurping them very satisfying. & the soups for both dishes were also very delicious, but obviously very different for both. The truffle Dashi is a bit saltier than the sukiyaki and definitely has a strong truffle flavor. Meanwhile, the sukiyaki is bit sweeter than the Dashi. It felt a lot healthier though b/c it has a lot of veggies. & the US Wagyu for both dishes were immaculate. You can't go wrong with either one! Good ambiance too. Definitely very lively w/ good conversations all around us. Plus, HUGE portions! Would definitely go back.

Nothing like hot Japanese noodles on cold evenings, right? We weren't the only ones in this mindset as we had a moderate wait (15 minutes or so) at TsuruTonTan before we were seated. But this gave me ample time to admire their Christmas tree adorned with sushi ornaments! Location: This udon restaurant from Japan is right by Union Square Park and across the street from Sweet Chick. There's another TsuruTonTan in Midtown. Seating: We were placed in a strange central section where many other parties of two were dining. You sit alongside your companion and stare through a clear wall at strangers eating across from you. A tad awkward, especially since the bench appeared bolted into place, requiring some shimmying and sliding. I envied those sitting in the wee booths. Food: The grilled maitake mushroom ($9) appetizer was terrific, though it featured truffle oil (not mentioned on the menu while "white ginger soy" is) which I could've done without. And the TsuruTonTan Deluxe ($25) udon, true to its name, arrived in a massive bowl topped with tempura galore, complete with a battered shiso leaf! Needless to say, I was stuffed by the conclusion of the dinner.  Service: Carlos had a great attitude and regularly checked on us.  Restroom: The bathroom was toasty and tucked away off to the side, hidden by a sliding door.  Reservations: TsuruTonTan is on Resy if you'd like to make a reservation beforehand. This is recommended since the host asked about our reservation status.

I got the premium nigiri lunch set with shoyu udon ($21). It came with 6 pieces of different types of nigiri. The cuts of fish were pretty fresh. However, the highlight was the udon. Honestly, I was so surprises by how bouncy the udon was despite eating it 15 minutes later. It wasn't soggy at all and the broth was so umami. This is probably one of the best bowls of udon I've ever had. I love the aesthetic of this place. It was easy to get a table for lunch on a weekday. Generally, the staff won't seat you unless you have everyone in your party present. Overall, staff members were attentive and nice when serving us! I'm definitely looking forward to returning to this place and getting another bowl of udon to warm myself up this Winter!

Food: Food was good with lots of complex flavors working together! I got the Truffle Wagyu Udon, which is something I haven't had before. However, I think the truffle flavor strongly overpowered the dish. Not sure it tasted like udon anymore bc of it. Regardless, tasted great. I love the Tuna cone! It was perfectly crunchy. It's layered; it has tuna on top, guac in the middle, and tuna on the bottom. It was a nice, refreshing taste to have the guac in the middle! Service: Servers were kind and attentive! I loved to hear their advice

Enjoyed our Yelp! Find just a stone's throw from Union Square - we went to Forbidden Planet, The Strand bookstore and Max Brenner and hung out in the Square for street music and enjoyed being outdoors in the great weather! Searched on Japanese food and since we were meeting near after our daughter's college classes, found this fun place! Waited up front and had some drinks as they don't sit incomplete parties. But, once sat (in very close tables), we ordered quickly and got our food and drinks quickly as well! The draft Sapporo was delicious and the kids enjoyed their virgin cocktails: cranberry Lime and Mango mojito. My Tokyo Mule was icy cold and delicious (and pretty!). The decor and vibe were chill and upscale, but the prices were very reasonable. We all enjoyed our udon meals, but the standout actually was the fluffy and perfectly sauced Oyakudon (rice bowl with scrambled fluffy egg), and the sizzling wagyu beef and chicken udon. All the options were really large and we would've taken some home, but we walked so much, everyone was really hungry! For our family of 5 the bill game to $208. Glad we came!

Food (5/5): Very delicious food. We got a variety of sushis and udons. I got the three roll combo with scallop, avocado eel, and salmon ikura plus the sukiyaki bowl. We also shared some of the premium rolls. They were all delicious! I particularly enjoyed the premium rolls which were salmon and crab combo. Service (4/5): The servers are friendly but for bigger groups the food can take a while to come out. They were helpful and friendly. Ambiance (5/5): This is a beautiful restaurant with a nice upscale interior. The wall decoration is super nice and impressive.
